Catering Apprentice (Level 2 Commis Chef Apprentice) 

37 hours per week Monday to Friday (7am to 3pm Monday to Thursday & 7am to 2.30pm Friday) 

Term Time Only + 8 additional days

(Working 39 weeks of the year with 13 weeks of holiday taken during school holiday periods)

Annual Salary:  £10,652.99 paid monthly over 12 months

Trinity Multi-Academy Trust is a forward thinking, vibrant and rapidly growing trust currently comprising of 11 academies, including secondary, primary and post-16.  We are proud to have transformed the life chances of thousands of pupils across its existing academies, and our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility run through all aspects of academy life.  Our commercial kitchen is a busy high-volume kitchen where we produce in the region of 1000 meals per day to be distributed to our schools and external clients.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated person to join our commercial catering kitchen as a Catering Apprentice resulting in a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification.  You will be based at our central offices in Halifax, working alongside our experienced catering team and Head Chef.  You will be supported in your apprenticeship by the experienced Chef Benson-Smith Academy in Halifax.

Your apprenticeship will run for between 13 and 15 months and will be work based with a suitable plan agreed to suit the workplace environment.  Your apprenticeship will cover areas including:

  • Food safety
  • Allergens
  • Menus
  • Workplace technology
  • Knife skills
  • Preparation, cooking and presenting of different foods
  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Food costings
